Reading for Today: Luke 2:14

“.....and on earth peace among men with whom he is pleased.”
Luke 2:14

The season of Advent is a special time when Christians prepare their hearts to receive the good news that God has graced the world in the birth of His Son, Jesus Christ, the Prince of Peace.
His message of Peace in our world of conflict and destruction reassures us of God’s favor toward His people, the love He proclaims for His lost and wayward children and His insistence that God is well pleased.

So what does God require of us to generate and sustain Peace on Earth? The hymn “Let There Be Peace on Earth” states, “Let it begin with me…!” If we hold this to be true then each of us has a responsibility to promote and develop peace, wherever and whenever we are presented an issue of conflict – at home, in our community, our country and in our world. Though this may seem an overwhelming task, we can be victorious in our efforts. We can assure Peace in our actions and prayer without ceasing for Peace on Earth.

Prayer for Peace:
Let us pray that strength and courage be given abundantly to all who work for a world of reason and understanding; that the good that lies in every man’s heart may, day by day, be magnified; that all people will come to see more clearly that which unifies; that we may be closer to victory over people’s evil and wickedness, not nation over nation; that the true spirit and meaning of this Advent season, its joy, its beauty, its hope and its abiding faith may encompass us; and the blessing of peace be ours – the peace to build and grow, to live together in harmony and love and to know that God is supporting and guiding us in the work of Peace on Earth. Amen.
