Reading for Today: Acts 10:36

You know the message he sent to the people of Israel, preaching peace by Jesus Christ – he is Lord of all.

This is surely the season of sending and receiving messages! We hear from family and friends who are near and far. We are inundated with sales promotions, and even the modern wonder of computers is yet another source of communication. Our time in history is often termed “The Information Age.” But, are we really getting the crucial message? At this time of whirlwind activity, are we taking time to remember the meaning of the joyful news of the birth of our Savior? God is love, be at peace, love one another. My granddaughter tells me – soon it will be the birthday of baby Jesus. I ask her, “What’s this baby Jesus about?” She says, “….Jesus loves me and want me to be nice.” She gets the message. Do we get it? Let us try to decrease the information overload and keep the elegant message of Christmas peace at the forefront of our lives.

Prayer for Today:
Lord, help us to be ever mindful of the greatest gift the world has received through your love. Let kindness, let joy, and let serenity be part of our daily lives as we prepare for the birthday of baby Jesus. Amen.
