Reading for Today: I Peter 1:3-9

Though you have not seen him, you love him; and even though you do not see him now, you believe in him and are filled with and inexpressible and glorious joy, for you are receiving the goal of your faith, the salvation of your souls. I Peter 1:8-9

Christmas is about believing, about loving, about joy and about sharing that joy with others. We were not there when Christ was born; and yet He is here when we celebrate His birth some 2,000 years later. We were not there when Christ taught those who followed Him, and healed those in need; and yet He is here as we learn from His teachings and turn to Him for strength in times of need. We were not there when Christ was taken from the garden and crucified as part of the plan for our salvation; and yet He comes into our lives when we believe and accept the gift of forgiveness and eternal life with God.

As we celebrate this Christmas season with family and friends, and remember those family members and friends who are no longer with us, let us never forget or get too busy to find the “inexpressible and glorious joy” that comes from the greatest gift of all – our gift from God. Have a Joyous Christmas!

Prayer for Today:
Heavenly Father, we thank you for the most precious gift of your Son, who came to us as a baby and gave His life for our salvation. We celebrate His birth, we remember His sacrifice, and we await with joy His coming again. Amen.
