Reading for Today: Mark 9:49-50

Have salt in yourselves and be at peace with each other.

In 1991 young Greg Grimstad, wife Sue and two daughters visited Central. Greg had grown up in Central. In his high school days he had moved with his parents, Elmer and Marjorie Grimstad to Arizona. Now Greg was back to Central sharing his plan to enter the ministry of Campus Crusade in Christ and seeking support.

I have continued to keep in contact with Greg and Sue all these years. This young couple has been an inspiration to me as they have faithfully served in this campus ministry. They joined the Campus Crusade team (founded by Bill Bright) at Arizona State University. They made mission trips to Mexico, and lead retreats and Bible Study groups. Several summers they were part of the Newport Beach Revival projects. In 1997 they challenged the professors teaching God is dead with debates and lectures for 1200 students. Eleven students became Bible Study leaders for the 44,000-student body.
By 1998 the Grimstads joined the Phoenix Metro Catalytic Ministry where they influenced 150,000 students on 23 campuses. Their mission was to transform lost students into Christ centered laborers.
Summer 1999 they were in Ft. Collins, Colorado for leadership training for the “Celebrate Jesus 2000” Vision. At a conference in San Diego 200 students pledged to devote a year to full time service for Christ.

In 2001 Greg and Sue spread “salt” on the students at 3 Arizona Community Colleges.
Twenty-four hours after 9/11 a team went to New York to share the message of love that only Jesus can give. Summer 2002 the Grimstads went to University of Edinburgh in Scotland to start a ministry. In the fall of 2002 they were challenged to the position as Metro Directors in the Minneapolis-St. Paul area. Here they have used the everystudent.com web site to expose students to Christ. They answer questions by e-mail and students have received Christ while on the site.

Their daughters are now ages 16 and 18 and attend Minnesota schools. They continue to train leaders. In a recent newsletter they requested this prayer. “Pray our student leaders will seek God for wisdom and boldness as they impact their campuses. What dedication and commitment this family has been for me. They have delivered Jesus’ message to be the salt of the world and thus receive an inner peace that is beyond all understanding.

Prayer for Today:
Heavenly Father, thank you for calling your children to serve you by spreading your message of love and salvation to young students in our college. Amen.
