READING: Psalm 139

Even the darkness will not be dark to you; the night will shine like the day, for darkness is as light to you. Psalm 139.12

For the past 30 years I lived in a home surrounded by many beautiful trees, which made my home dark at night. Now I have moved to a different home that is totally out in the open with no trees. I mourned my lost trees, but discovered a new magnificent beauty and blessing from God and that is the night sky. It is awesome in this wide open area when stars and moon are shining with nothing to obstruct my view. There are many times when the moon and stars make it as light as day. And so it must have been on the night Christ was born-as light as day.

PRAYER: Dear Lord, we are thankful for the night. It gives us time to rest and recharge, but it also gives us time to meditate and feel closer to you. When we bring our prayers to you in the night we feel safer and closer to you than during our cluttered life during the day. Your beautiful night can be truly holy. Amen. -- Sue B.
