O Holy Night

2002 Advent Devotion Collection

December 4
READING: Luke 2.8-20

In that region there were shepherds living in the fields, keeping watch over their flock by night. Then an angel of the Lord stood before them, and the glory of the Lord shone around them, and they were terrified. Luke 2.8-9

I remember one night at camp walter scott
looking up at the stars and
thinking about the shepherds.
They were always out looking at the stars.
They looked up one night to see a new star
but it wasn't an ordinary star.
It shone brighter than the others.
Maybe they thought that they were seeing things
so they probably wiped their eyes
hard to hopefully clear their vision.
They must have been curious.
Then the angels came and gave them the good news of Jesus' birth.
They left for bethlehem following the star.
How amazing was that.

PRAYER: Dear God, please give us the courage to follow your light,
because without Jesus we would have no light to follow. Amen.
