O Holy Night

READING: Psalm 139.7-12

. . .even the darkness is not dark to you;
the night is as bright as the day,
for darkness is as light to you
. Psalm 139.12

Recently, returning home from our niece's wedding reception, we experienced the wonder and majesty of a clear night with a full moon. We watched as it peeked over the horizon, and slowly rose in the night sky. It seemed to float in and out of the clouds as it rose higher. Needless to say, when it was behind the clouds our vision was obscured. When it shone brightly all the world around us was much more clearly seen, beauty and obstacles alike. As I was not driving, I could gaze longingly and think about the magnificence of God and his creations.

My thoughts returned to long ago when another of God's creations, a star, led the Wise men that Holy Night. They worshipped Jesus and celebrated His birth. We know the star made their way more clearly seen, as God led them.

God sees clearly, day or night. We are so emotionally involved in our problems that our way is often obscured. If we could all really let Him lead our way and be our light in the darkness, the solutions to our problems and our way would be more easily seen.

PRAYER: Dear God, you know what is best for us. Help us to turn to you to be our guiding light in the darkness and lead us on the path you would have us take. Help us to reflect your loving light to others in Christian love. In Jesus' name, Amen. -- Louise B.
