O Holy
Night
2002 Advent Devotion Collection
December 31
READING: Psalm 19
The heavens are telling the glory of God;
and the firmament proclaims his handiwork.
Day to day pours forth speech,
and night to night declares knowledge.
Psalm 19.1-2
Jesus was born in a stable, and most
of us were born in a hospital and we should all be thankful for that.
We all are lucky-if something went wrong in a stable what would we do?
We have doctors and people who can help us in a hospital, not in a stable.
Unlike Jesus, we are not a perfect
gift. In the scripture reading we hear we should focus on God day and
night, not just at Christmas. All the things around us are gifts from
God. We know we should focus on God but we do not. We should also focus
on others and not just ourselves. We should not focus on presents and
toys but our family and Jesus being sent to us as a gift (not a toy gift,
but a gift to help us).
PRAYER: Dear God, help us to live
as your disciples. Amen. -- Jarrett B.
