ChristCare Groups at Central
- ChristCare groups are circles
of care with Christ at the center
- ChristCare groups are people
who come together intentionally to build community with each
other. We'll care for each other, share about our lives and our
faith, listen to each other, pray for each other and be there
for each other.
- ChristCare groups are covenant
groups - we make a covenant with each other about how our group
will be constituted. How often and for how long will we meet?
What will we do? What are our expectations as to attendance,
confidentiality, activities? The first two or three weeks we
meet, we will be working on our covenant together.
- ChristCare groups participate
in Biblical equipping - each time we meet as a ChristCare
group, we will participate in some form of Biblical equipping.
This is a form of Bible study which involves several elements.
We SHARE with one another about what has happened in our lives.
We HEAR God's Word read aloud. We EXPLORE what the passage is
about. We CONNECT the passage to our lives today. We PREPARE
to apply the scripture to our lives in the coming week.
- ChristCare groups pray and worship
together - each time we meet, prayer and worship becomes an important
element. This may seem awkward at first, but as we build community
together and become closer to each other, the time spent in worship
and prayer will become even more important to us.
- ChristCare groups participate
in some form of missional service - as part of our covenant together,
we will decide how and when we will participate in a project
of mission or outreach. As we discover who we are and how God
is at work in our lives, it is important to reach out beyond
ourselves and to offer God's love to others. This is the way
we express our faith, learn more about ourselves, and become
the faithful disciples that God is calling us to be.

ChristCare Groups meet every
week, usually for eight to ten weeks. Some groups focus on a
Bible or other kind of study. Other groups are formed around
a particular interest or need. All groups contain the above elements
of community building, Biblical equipping, prayer and worship
and missional service but some place more emphasis on one or
more of those elements. The goal of each group is to share Christian
life, to study the Bible and to provide support to each other
through fellowship.
The schedule of groups is constantly changing as one group finishes and
another begins. Watch for announcements of new ChristCare groups being
formed and consider joining one. Call Rev. Gretchen Barron 428-4336 or email
her for more information. You may also contact Ernestine
