Rev. Gretchen Barron
Let me introduce myself ... I am the newest member
of the ministry team at Central Christian Church, beginning my
ministry here on April 1, 1998. As Pastor for Evangelism and
Membership, I work closely with the Evangelism, Shepherding,
Fellowship and World Outreach Departments. I am also staff advisor
for our Stephen Ministry, ChristCare Ministry and Central's Women's
Groups.
My hobbies include spending time with my daughter, Bethany
(born December 1999) reading, walking, playing with our cocker spaniel,
Johann Sebastian "Bark", listening to music (as well as singing
and playing the piano), learning new computer skills, exploring the
internet, scrapbooking and doing other varied handcrafts.
I am a native of Altoona, Iowa. I graduated from
Culver Stockton College (Bachelor of Arts) in Canton, Missouri
in 1987, and am a 1991 graduate of Christian Theological Seminary
(Master of Divinity) in Indianapolis. I also attended Drake University
in Des Moines and hold a diploma as a surgical technician from
DMACC in Ankeny, Iowa (1976). I was ordained as a minister by
the Christian Church (Disciples of Christ) in the Upper Midwest
on July 7, 1991.
My pastoral experience includes student pastorates
during studies at Culver Stockton College with Emerson Christian
Church, Bunker Hill Christian Church, and Mt. Sinai Christian
Church. I served First Christian Church of Covington, Kentucky
as Director of Music and Christian Education, Crestview Christian
Church in Indianapolis as Associate Minister (1987-1991), First
Christian Church in Coon Rapids, Iowa (1991-1993), and was Associate
Minister of Central Christian Church in Boone, Iowa (1993-1998).
