Worship Support

• Greeters & Ushers - Do you love to welcome people? Greeters welcome all our attendees to worship. Ushers make sure that attendees get the materials needed for worship and watch over the offerings.
• Contributions - Are you good with finances? Ask us how you can help!
• Choir - Do you prefer to sing hymns and traditional music? Join our choir for Traditional services.
• Special Music - Only want to sing/play an instrument occasionally? Talk with Dr. Ben Hawkinson for Traditional services or Louis Kappler or Steve Turner for Contemporary services.
• Praise Band - Do you prefer singing contemporary tunes or playing contemporary music with your instrument? Talk with Louis Kappler or Steve Turner.
• Liturgists - Would you like to participate in worship services? Liturgists read the Call to Worship and pray during service.
• Sound board/Lighting Tech - Are you interested in the production side of services? Sound and light techs help make sure the service goes smoothly.
• Live Stream recording - Are you interested in helping video-record the worship services and stream them (with assistance) so that those at home can worship too? Contact Wayne Rutherford to learn more about how you can help this vital ministry.
• Snacks - Who doesn't love snacks?? The Snack volunteers prepare the snack table before Contemporary services.

Working with Kids and Young Adults

• Nursery - Do you love the littlest of God's kingdom? Nursery workers are the presence of God to our youngest attendees.
• Preschool - Occasionally our Preschool teachers need a helping hand. Talk to Melissa Miller if interested.
• Sunday School leaders - Do you enjoy being with kids? Sunday School volunteers get to work with our children and youth to help them learn about God.
• Faith Quest - Do you like mentoring young people in their faith? Talk to Pastor Michael about becoming a Faith Quest mentor.
• Youth - Do you like working with kids and teens? Youth volunteers help our children and teens learn more about God and participate in special programs planned for them.
• College Students - Want to show our college students some of God's love? We send care packages to our college students each year. We need help collecting gifts, packaging them, and sending them, as well as collecting addresses.
• Special Events help - Maybe you can't help weekly, but every now and then you can give some time. We have several events every year that are "all hands on deck" kind of events, where we need lots of different kinds of help, like running a snow cone machine, serving food, decorating, monitoring a bounce house, etc. Vacation Bible School, Trunk or Treat, egg hunts, and more.

Administrative or Building Needs

• Hosts – Do you enjoy being that helpful presence to guests? Hosts welcome visitors to Preschool and during DOVE Children's Clothing Room hours and show them where to go.
• Building/Property Maintenance - Do you have time to help Central maintain our beautiful building and grounds? Or maybe you're handy? We'd love to talk to you!
• Office support - Can you help our office staff with tasks like mailings and other administrative duties as needed? Occasionally the office staff needs an extra helping hand.
• Social media support - Are you social media savvy? This is a great way to help the church be more visible to the Decatur community.
• Marketing - Do you love sharing what Central's doing here? Maybe you can help with marketing our events and worship.
• Photography - Do you like to take photos? We need volunteers to be present at events (and worship) and take updated photos for the website and social media.
• Kitchen workers (cook, clean up, etc.) - Do you enjoy meal preparation and serving? Our kitchen crew is the best! They make our meals at Central wonderful.
• IT Support - Are you tech-y? Can you answer IT questions? Let us know!
• Committees - We have a Church Council with committees that help support what's going on here at Central. Some examples are Fellowship (food & events), CACS (benevolence to community), PR/Evangelism (marketing), Christian Education, women's & men's ministries, and more.

Care Ministries

• Prayer Shawl ministry - Can you knit or crochet? Our Prayer Shawl ministry makes prayer shawls and lap blankets that are prayed over for those who need comfort.
• ChristCare Stitchers and Decatur Needle Arts also meet in our building regularly, though they are not technically Central groups.
• Card Ministry - Do you like to write or make cards or are willing to address them? Card Ministry is a tangible way to let members and attendees know that someone is thinking about them and praying for them in the hard times and the good times.
• Hospital callers/visitors - Do you like calling or visiting our members? Our hospital ministry members make sure to check in on the people we know who have been in the hospital recently and let them know Central is thinking of them.
• Prayer - We can always use prayer support. Talk to the pastors if interested.
